Nice And Comfy

I’ve had this chair for years and years. The first couple of years of having it I didn’t really use it at all. It served mostly as a tabled because I never got used to it moving and sliding around because of the wheels. Now I can’t imagine myself doing work without it. The chair and curves are design excellently to conform to the body. It’s plush on the bottom and back for added comfort. The chair also looks very attractive too. It has and executive radiance about it. The curves of the hand rest along with the gaps under them add a sense of airiness to it. This sense of airiness along with the easy of sliding back and forth with the wheel gives off a sensation of floating which makes hours of working while sitting on this chair a lot more bearable.

Something that I would change to make the chair look a lot more exclusive or have that executive feel to it would be to add some metal or chrome sections. You could possibly add some metal or chrome pieces to the bar that attaches the chair to the wheels or maybe the branches of the stand that goes off to each individual wheels. Adding some chrome or metal to the hand rest would also be a nice touch too. Some people might think the use of plastic for all of the attaching pieces might be considered cheap so chrome or metal could be the next best option.

The iPhone Isn't King Anymore

This box is elegantly designed. I also find that there’s a reason why black was chosen as the color for the box because the Apple iPhone which uses a white box is the direct rival of the Samsung Galaxy. Black is usually the opposite or signifies rivalry to something that is white. The typography and letter forms are also nicely done as well. The typography has a very shiny look to them that creates a sort of rainbow effect when light hits it at the right angle.

The letter forms are simple not too over the top. Everything looks like standard print and there could be a reason for this as well. Since Samsung wants the Galaxy phone in as many people hands as possible choosing a very neutral letter form that wouldn’t drive away customer at the very site of it is a good idea. A letter form that is too outlandish or strange or maybe hard to read can potentially hurt sales. The “S” after Galaxy seems to be the only letter form that is really different. The “S” is much more sharp, larger and just overall has a much more edgy design to it than the “S” that is seen in the word "Samsung." I wouldn’t change a thing about this cover box design. I like the black and I also like the shiny letter form that directly contrasts with the black as well.

Motorsport Icon

This is one of the most iconic logo in all of design history. It’s the Mitsubishi logo for Mitsubishi Motors. As a proud owner of a 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer I couldn’t help myself, but put this logo in. The design is very simple and very symmetrical too. No matter which side you look or even how you tilt and spin the logo around it’s going to stay the same. I like symmetry in design. Symmetry in design creates a sense of calmness. Of course when things are placed off center they can create a sense of interest which is exactly what I learned from Tony Longston who taught my computer graphic design class. That sense of interest from an off center design can also be a bad thing if that design is horrible one because it would drive people away. Symmetry in design can make a horrible design pleasing to the eyes because of how even and same everything is. This could have been the exact reason why Mitsubishi went for a symmetrical design…they didn’t want to drive away their customer so they went with the safe choice.

The three diamond shapes in the design could also represent wealth. What large corporation doesn’t want to gain some sort of wealth or success in their existence. A company that exudes wealth even in their design is a company that people will flock to support because most people are in pursuit of wealth or to appear wealthy.

"Luke, I Am, Your Father"

Nerd or not everyone should have an idea who this guy is and what film series he’s known for. An unexpected surprise came after I took the photo. That bright ball of light that you see in the middle of the poster that makes it looks like Darth Vader is reaching for is completely unintentional, but does look cool. Back to why I choose this poster. I found the pose very interesting. Just by the way Vader is posed it creates a sense of interaction with the person viewing the poster. It looks as if Vader is going to reach right out of that poster and grab. This sense of interaction between the person viewing the poster and the poster itself is important if you want to create a buzz for the poster and the product that the poster is promoting.

Vader is also a very powerful and important figure in the Star Wars universe and the poster which is for Episode 3 is about his origins. It only makes sense to have Vader be the largest part of the poster completely dominating it and the text at the bottom is made secondary because of how small it is. Just by adjusting the scale of an object in a poster or other piece of advertisement can affect how important it is viewed. The poster is a very simple design with a subject and text explaining what the poster is promoting, but the layout and the pose of the subject makes this poster a very effective form of design

Guns & Roses

If you’re into rock then you know about Gun’s and Roses. There still popular after all these years and here’s one of their logos. I actually got this logo from the game Guitar Hero in which their songs are used. I’ve always been interested in the designs and logos of both Metal , Rock and Punk music groups and merchandises because they are always different and very out there. Here were see a simple combination of both guns and roses. The unique part that I notice is the little details. Notice that the vines of the Roses actually wrap around the gun itself. It’s a nice little touch that didn’t have to be done, but was anyways.

Also the letter form or font is perfectly chosen. The font gives off a very old school late 1800’s western vibe while also having this modern twist too it. You get this sense that it wants to represent the old west because of the Guns in guns and roses, but that it also didn’t want to lean too far to the old west and wanted to appeal to the more modern crowded.

The thing that I would change about this design is to do something different and unique with the center of the logo. It looks like some kind of fabric was placed their and it just seems boring compared to the rest of the design. Anything would work. Another rose, a skull a guitar and maybe even a music note could fit in. Just add something to the rather boring space.
